| Songs of the Sea (1840) reprinted
2000 | ||
| A small group of poems based on John Lang's experiences at sea in one of his
step-father's ships. For example The Whaler's Song comes from Lang's
experience on one of his step-father's whaling ships. The Sea Burial is
almost a prayer for the many men who have lost their lives in the battle
against the sea. There is also an evocative poem addressed to the North Head
at the entrance to Sydney Harbour. Epsilon was a pseudonym used a number of times as a signature to Lang's early works. A new edition is availble from Mulini Press John Lang
